Stage Left Players have been awarded $3,758 by the Ohio Arts Council to help fund their growing youth theatre and outreach programs. Resident Artistic Director Kandace Cleland accepted the $1000 Snap Grant while attending the Ohio Arts Impact Conference in December, and looks forward to receiving the remaining ArtSTART funding once the final report is reviewed and accepted. “The Ohio Arts Council support has played an enormous role in the growth of our youth players program this season. Rather than turn kids away, we were able to include everyone who auditioned for our fall and spring productions. That’s 142 kids grades K-8 who grew in confidence while shining on the Trinity Playhouse stage. Production expenses for our Jr/Sr High production of “Once On This Island” exceeded $4000. OAC support helps us keep production values high for our little community theatre.” Stage Left Players has applied for a Sustainability Grant for the next four years. Cleland says “Fingers crossed. We’re fortunate to be recognized as a valuable arts contributor in Ohio. Sustainability dollars would go a long way to ensuring a bright future.”
