CHESTER — A Butterfly Luncheon and a Monarch Butterfly Release Event will be held from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Sunday, July 14, at the Chester American Legion Post 121 Carolina Ave. Tickets are $20 each and must be purchased in advance. LISBON – Dulci-More Festival 25 at BSA Camp McKinley, 37748 Furnace Road on Memorial Day Weekend, May 24-26. Evening Concerts are from 7-9:15 p.m. and Folk Music Workshops and Mini-Concerts on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Presenters include national, regional, and local folk and dulcimer musicians. Activities include evening concerts; mini-concerts during meal times; over 60 workshops for beginners to advanced for mountain and hammered dulcimers, guitar, ukulele, autoharp, harp, fiddle, whistle, recorder, bowed psaltery, singing, songwriting, various song and music styles, jamming, and more with workshops appropriate for children included during all workshop times); open stages; hymn/gospel/spiritual sing; song circles; jamming; vendors; food; primitive camping; and more. Saturday evening concert: Mustard’s Retreat (David Tamulevich, Libby Glover, and maybe Michael Hough) from Michigan, singer-songwriters and; multi-instrumentalists and Bob and Jeanne Zentz from Virginia, singer-songwriters and multi-instrumentalists. Sunday evening concert: Colin Beasley from Alabama, hammered dulcimer and percussion and Sarah Morgan from Tennessee, singer and mountain dulcimer

Registration for full weekend is $35/person, public school age children are free with a responsible adult; or $10/person for each evening concert; or $8/person for daytime only on Saturday or Sunday; or $15/person for either Saturday or Sunday daytime plus evening concert.

EAST LIVERPOOL — Volunteer training will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day June 4, 10, 11 and 13 at the Holy Trinity Church located at 235 W. 5th Street East Liverpool. All dates are mandatory to attend.

Our Volunteer Teams offer many opportunities to share gifts and talents. You may be interested in helping patients, delivering supplies, working with military veterans, fundraising, sewing/crafts, helping in the office, Pet Therapy program, or a variety of other ways.

WEIRTON, W.Va. — The Weirton Event Center will host the free concert season beginning May 24. Opening night brings on local favorites The Fantasy’s. Car shows are scheduled May 24, July 19, Aug 2, and Aug 16.

Gates for the concert will open to the public at 4 p.m. with the show starting at 7. Free parking is available for all events in the Strip Steel Community Federal Credit Union lot off Main Street (except in the ATM lane), the alley off Lee Avenue, the Millsop Community Center and on Main Street. Buses are available in the Community Center Parking lot.

In addition to events planned by the Top of West Virginia, the Weirton Event Center is available for rent for family, community or organizational events. Rental for the Weirton Event Center includes the use of the grounds, on-site restroom facilities, the stage and a paved, covered picnic/meeting area. The Top of WV CVB is also announcing the opening of concert season in Newell, Follansbee, and Chester. Newell opens on Sunday May 26 at 2pm, with a Memorial Day Program featuring the Oak Glen High School band. Follansbee on Monday May 27 opens at 6 p.m. with the 249 WV Army National Guard Band. Tuesday, May 27 Chester has the Glenn Miller Orchestra playing at 7.

EAST LIVERPOOL — The parents support group, called Forever Parents, is a gathering of parents who have experienced the death of their child. They will meet this month at 6:30 p.m. May 23 in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church (enter by the back door).
