EAST LIVERPOOL — A composting clinic will be held from 1:30-4 p.m. Saturday, May 18 at the Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center, Echo Dell Road. Judith Rodkey from the OSU Extension Master Gardner’s Speakers Bureau will share information on the basics of composting. Property seasoned compost is the black gold of gardening and is a valuable soil additive. Learn how to compost and why it is important. Using compost improves soil and plant health and reduces waste. Also this Saturday, a “Create a Bird” for kids and their adults, will take place from 1:30-4 p.m. in the center’s classroom with volunteers Pam and Carolyn. They will welcome the arrival of the migrating feathered friends back to the area as they create their own bird. This activity will cover beak and feet adaptations and will take about 45 minutes to complete.
LISBON — The Beacon Association is sponsoring a fundraiser Sock Hop School Dance from 6-9 p.m. Friday, May 17 (parents/guardians are to pick up children at 9 p.m. sharp) at North Elementary for K-4th grade for North and LaCroft Students. Cost is $5 per person and concession is available for an additional cost. DJ is Mayor Ryan Stovall. All proceeds from this event will help The Beacon Association with community events such as Special Olympics, Relay for Life, city clean-ups, haunted house fundraiser, city Christmas Parade & Light-Up Night, future scholarship funds for the four local high schools, helping other community organizations with events and fundraisers, and helping make our community a better place through community service.
