Two Southern Local Schools students won top spots during the 2019 Columbiana County Schools Art Show for their creativity. Junior Katie Short and kindergartener Teagan Hamilton each earned best of show in their respective divisions, with Short winning the high school category with her colorful floral display and Hamilton was led the elementary (grades K-4) division with her unique bubble wrap design. The art show, which was presented by the Columbiana County Educational Service Center, was held at the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center in Lisbon. The event featured a reception and awards presentations for the top elementary, middle and high school entries, while the artwork will be displayed at the CCESC. Southern Local High School students participating included 8th grader Zachary Ludt, sophomore Emma Duncan and senior Tawnya Bertram while SLES pupils included first-grader McKenzie Sloan, second-grader David Kennedy, third-grader Gracie Lee, fourth-grader Sophia Patterson and fifth-grader Landon Wilson.
