The East Liverpool Salvation Army has been busy with its back-to-school shoe sign-up and distribution. Through some donations, funding of its own, and a partnership with the local JC Penney, The Salvation Army was able to provide 213 free pairs of shoes for the community’s children as they headed back to school. “I feel very blessed that God was able to use us in this way to fulfill such a great need in our community,” stated Lt. Lydia Behr, organizer of the event. “We are praying for the funds to be able to do this again next year.” Riley Bendine (left), 10, and Aubrey Bendine, 13, are all smiles as they check out the shoes, with assistance from Susan Choquette.
