Calcutta Lions Club

CALCUTTA — The Calcutta Lions Club met for their regular meeting at the Peter Metrovich Community Center on Aug. 28, with 26 members in attendance. King Lion Richard Titus called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was said by all. Dinner was provided by Lions Cheryl Coalmer, Bonny Chamberlain and Rosemary Bruehler.

Lion Tim Coalmer began the evening asking members for “good” things going on in their lives.

Lion Sharon Hall handed out the minutes to the July 14 meeting. Coalmer made a motion to accept, being seconded by Lion Joe Hall and the motion was carried.

Bruehler announced that the Beaver Local Leo Club recently participated in the Back to School Bash, had a fun day at the YMCA and their next project is the Antique in the Woods.

Lion Gary Freeh announced the next park clean-up is 9 a.m. Sept. 15.

Lion Janet Christen reported 11 members participated in giving free eye screenings to 80 students at Beaver Local during their back-to-school bash.

Lion Sharon passed out posters and tickets for the Pasta Dinner to be held again from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, at Adrian’s. Cost is $8 per person. Carryout is available but does not include a drink. Desserts will be available for purchase. Menu includes spaghetti, meatballs, bread, salad and iced or hot tea, water or coffee.

King Lion Rich also read several thank you notes in regards to donations we have given.

The 50/50 was won by Lion Stephanie Bereschik.
