CALCUTTA — The Calcutta Lions Club met for their regular meeting on July 11, at the Peter Metrovich Community Center, with 27 members in attendance. King Lion Gary Freeh called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Lion Wayne Christen led the invocation. The Pledge of Allegiance was said by all.

Lion and tail twister Tim Coalmer started the evening off with “good” things from members as well as a game.

Lion Sharon Hall handed out the minutes to the June 28 meeting. Lion Tim made a motion to accept, seconded by Lion Bev Smith. Motion was carried.

Lion Tim handed out three remaining 100 percent attendance awards and pins to Lions George Drovdlic, Janet Christen and Wayne Christen.

Lion Vicki Coalmer, membership chairman, asked members to go over their orientation booklets and do the questionnaire for the next meeting.

Immediate past president Lion Janet presented Service Excellence Pins to Lions Bonny Chamberlain and Nancy Hadley for their hard work and dedication this past year. King Lion Freeh presented Lion George with the Knights of the Blind award for his distinguished service in our club this past year.

Lion Jerry Barnes introduced the Beaver Local Leo Club president Emma Palmer and Vice President Alaina Cook. Leo Emma gave a report on what the Leo Club has been working on recently including their Environmental Project at Beaver Local, bingo with resident of Crossroads, their upcoming car wash, the back to school bash and reporting they have 20 new Freshman Leos who have joined. She also has a new project in mind “Adopt a Kid” for the Beaver Local elementary students.

Lion Tim stated the Veteran’s Picnic is coming up in August and is asking for volunteers to help again this year. He asked that members bring in two dozen cupcakes. Lion Jerry will invite the Leo Club members as well.

Lion Nancy stated the next bingo is 6:30 p.m. July 20, at Calcutta Health Care. Lion Janet reported the hot dog sale is at Giant Eagle on July 28-29.

King Freeh stated we will be having an in-house catered charter anniversary celebration at our regular meeting Aug. 8.

The 50/50 was won by Lion Frank Keenan. Lion Tim made a motion to adjourn at 7:55 p.m. seconded by Lion Joan Dodds.
