EAST LIVERPOOL — A recognition luncheon was held May 3 at the East Liverpool Country Club for East Liverpool High School Scholars of the Month and East Liverpool Junior/Senior High School Merit Award winners.

The students are selected by a committee based on academic merit, scholastic test scores, difficulty of curriculum, involvement in school activities, and community service.

Superintendent Randy Taylor served as Master of Ceremonies, and Merle Russo offered the invocation. The luncheon was served to the honored students, their parents, and other guests, including the committees and board members.

Brian Hamilton, a 1998 ELHS graduate and former Scholar of the Month, was the featured speaker.

Each of the students received a personalized keepsake plate provided by Homer Laughlin China Co. Students were then recognized by Principal Jonathan Ludwig and Assistant Principal Julie Rowe.
