A North Street, Franklin Township, man reported at 3:01 p.m. Tuesday he was called by someone claiming to be from the Social Security office and that he needed $1,000 for a lawyer due to legal problems. The person reportedly knew his Social Security Number and demanded money on a Target gift card. The man recognized it as a scam, but wanted other citizens to be aware.
A state Route 14, Unity Township, man reported he rented a grass lot from JPS Landscaping and was storing on the property four new Pro-2 generators owned by his company, Alex Lyon and Son out of Bridgeport, N.Y. Early Tuesday morning he noticed the generators were missing.
A state Route 154, Elkrun Township, man reported another man he knows threatened to harm him and refused to give him a vehicle he has the title to have, a 2008 Pontiac G6. Deputies looked at the title and the person filing the complaint said the other man owes him money and agreed to give him the vehicle as payment. Now the man was backing out and had threatened if he did not stop contacting him he was going to have people from Steubenville come up and kill him. Deputies spoke to the other party, who claimed he does not own the first man money and it was actually him who threatened to have someone named Ed from Youngstown come down and kill him. He also alleged the first man must have forged his name on the title.
A state Route 558, Salem Township, woman reported at noon on Tuesday someone broke into her basement on Aug. 14, damaging the basement door, the washer, the dryer and a freezer. The water pipes were also damaged, which caused flooding in the basement.
