Heather M. Reed, 25, was picked on arrest warrants out of Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office and Hancock County (W.Va.) Sheriff’s Office while at Walmart on Saturday afternoon. Reed was at the customer service desk when police were alerted that Reed was there. At first, Reed identified herself as Christina Smith before admitting her real identity. Reed was taken into custody out of Columbiana County for misuse of a credit cards and receiving stolen property. The Hancock County charges are two counts of fraudulent use of an access device.

Brianne M. Flaherty, 24, was charged with possessing drug abuse instruments and possessing drug paraphernalia, while Chad V. Lang Jr., 25, was charged with the same crimes, plus falsification following a traffic stop on Birch Road at 10 p.m. Sunday. The two were passengers in a vehicle driven by Leonard Coursin, who was pulled over because the vehicle only had one working brake light. When Lang identified himself as another person but could not produce any ID nor remember his Social Security number, police called in drug dog Noras, who detected contraband in the vehicle. A search turned up a wallet on Lang with an ID that came back to Lang, who admitted providing false information because there was an arrest warrant out for him. The search further turned up several syringes and burnt spoons in one of the door side pockets, but Lang and Flaherty denied they belonged to them. Police then notice a bulge in Flaherty’s pants and she removed a Crown Royal bag containing syringes, crack pipe and burnt spoons.

While on patrol, police noticed that motorist Amethyst Fike was driving with an expired license and the officer had her pull over in the Bruno’s Pizza parking lot on Sunday afternoon. Police also determined her passenger, Daniel Board, did not have a license, so plans were made to have the vehicle towed. Police asked Board if they could pat him down for their safety and he agreed, and during the search a pill bottle was found in Board’s sock. Board admitted it contained crystal meth. Fike was cited for driving with an expired license, and the suspected drugs will be sent away to be tested, which will likely result in charges against him.

–Police were called to 46283 Y & O Road at 1:10 a.m. Monday to take a harassment report.
