Southern downs Indian Creek

The Southern boys basketball team defeated Indian Creek 45-34 in an OVAC consolation game Tuesday.

Cam Grodhaus poured in 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Indians (14-6), while Max Hart had 10 points, five steals and four blocks. Brady Tolson added 10 rebounds.

Southern won the jv game 46-24.

The Indians are at River Friday.

Linsly 33, Beaver Local 29

CALCUTTA — In a low-scoring affair, Wheeling Linsley beat Beaver Local 33-29 Tuesday.

No player on either team reached double figures.

Nathan Barber topped the Beavers with six points and five rebounds. Josh Hilditch added five points, Grant Hall eight rebounds, Jaden Kiddey six rebounds and Logan Reed five assists and three steals.

Beaver Local won the junior varsity game, 62-50, as Ryan Cunningham scored 18 points.

The Beavers will play at Steubenville Catholic Central on Friday.

Springfield 78, Lisbon 40

LISBON — Springfield used a 44-10 second-half explosion to pull way from Lisbon for a 78-40 win Tuesday.

The Tigers had a balanced scoring effort with 17 points from Beau Brungard, 15 from Drew Clark, 14 from Shane Eynon and 10 from Evan Ohlin.

The Tigers improve to 15-4, while Lisbon drops to 9-10.

Lisbon, which trailed only 34-30, was led by Ryan McCullough with 12 points and Justin Sweeney 10.

Springfield also won the junior varsity game, 67-34. Jakob Joyce led the Tigers with 17 points. Adam Spencer had nine points for the Blue Devils.

Both teams play Friday with Springfield hosting Columbiana and Lisbon entertaining Jackson-Milton.
