Wellsville boys move to 4-0

EAST LIVERPOOL — Wellsville’s boys bowling teams picked up a pair of wins on Monday and Tuesday at Walnut Lanes.

On Tuesday, the Tigers were a 1,964-1,523 winner over Warren JFK. Joey Lascola had a 203 high game and a 354 series for the Tigers. Jonathon Walker had a high game of 173 and a 346 series.

On Monday, the Tigers beat Lowellville, 2,119-1,087. Lascola had a 191 high game and a 348 series. Walker added a 164 high game and a 326 series.

Wellsville’s boys team is 4-0.

Wellsville’s girls beat Warren JFK, 1,560-1,053. Jada Jones had a high game of 143 and a 250 series. Regan Pierson had a high game of 159 and a 279 series.

Lowellville beat Wellsville’s girls, 1,931-1,717. Pierson had a high game of 180 and a 299 series. Olivia Rowe had a high game of 171 and a 283 series.

Wellsville’s girls are 1-3.

The Tigers play Heartland Christian on Thursday at Hunt Club Lanes.

Mount to face Blue Jays

ALLIANCE — The Mount Union football team is playing in the NCAA Division III semifinals for the 24th straight year.

The top-ranked Purple Raiders (13-0) will play No. 13 Johns Hopkins (12-1) at noon Saturday at Mount Union Stadium.

The Blue Jays offense tops the nation averaging 564 total yards per game. Junior Quarterback David Tammaro has completed 67 percent of his passes for 3,861 yards and 35 touchdowns this season.

Tickets are $8 at will be available at the gates, which open at 10:30 a.m.

No games in West Virginia

EAST LIVERPOOL — The Oak Glen at East Liverpool girls basketball game scheduled for today is postponed as all West Virginia public schools statewide are closed in observance of a day of mourning for former President George H.W. Bush. All state employees in West Virginia have the day off.
