Big Red pulls away from Potters

EAST LIVERPOOL — The East Liverpool girls basketball team trailed by two at the half, but Steubenville rallied for a 45-23 win over the Potters on Monday.

Mikyla Reed led the Potter attack with seven points.

East Liverpool is at Oak Glen on Wednesday.

Beaver 56, Edison 12

CALCUTTA — Madison Cline fired in 23 points with five rebounds and Jenna Riccardo had 17 points, 13 rebounds and seven steals in Beaver Local’s 56-12 win over Edison on Monday.

Beaver Local is 3-3 and is at John Marshall on Thursday.

The Beavers won the jayvee portion, 52-8. Leah Riccardo had 16 points for the Beavers.

WELLSVILLE — United got balanced scoring throughout as it knocked off Wellsville 55-34 on Monday night.

Celeste Powers led the Eagles with 12 points, while Loren Swords chipped in 10 points.

For the Tigers, Kiki Perry had 13 points and 17 boards. Cameron Carlevale added 14 points.

United moves to 4-3 and 4-1 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference. The Eagles host Columbiana in a pivotal EOAC game on Thursday.

Wellsville is 0-7, 0-5. The Tigers are at East Palestine on Thursday.

United won the two-quarter jayvee game, 13-3.

East Palestine 45, Southern 29

SALINEVILLE–The East Palestine girls basketball team landed a 45-29 win over Southern Monday.

The Bulldogs improve to 4-1 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference. Southern falls to 1-4 in league play.

Jaliyah Mixon had a big night for the Bulldogs with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Joclyn Fristik added 13 points. Sara Buskirk grabbed seven rebounds for East Palestine. Payton Sherry handed out six assists. Kenzee Johnston came up with five steals.

Riley Felton led Southern with 10 points. Hannah Hayes added nine points.

East Palestine won the jv game 37-8.

Lisbon 69, Leetonia 44

LEETONIA–The Lisbon girls basketball team powered past Leetonia 69-44 in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference action Monday.

The Blue Devils (5-3, 3-2 EOAC) were led by a big night from Izzy Perez, who compiled 25 points, six assists and nine steals.

Maddie Liberati added 10 points and five rebounds for the Blue Devils, while Chloe Smith had eight points and five rebounds. Corinne Freeman finished with eight points, three assists, three steals and three blocks.

Taran Ferry led the Bears with 15 points. Leetonia falls to 2-3 in the EOAC.

Lisbon won the jv game 39-25. Bryanna VanGiesen led the way with 13 points. Madison Haifley added 11 points. Megan Rosko led the Bears with seven points.

Lisbon hosts Southern Thursday.

Columbiana 57, Toronto 26

COLUMBIANA — It was a grand time for the Fullum family on Monday night during the Toronto-Columbiana girls basketball team.

Columbiana senior Kennedy Fullum joined sister Khylea in the Clipper record books as she eclipsed 1,000 points for her career in a 57-23 victory over the Red Knights.

Kennedy reached the milestone with 23 seconds left in the second quarter on a free throw. She needed 11 points coming into the game and now has 1,005 for her career after the 16-point, 10-rebound performance. She was 5 for 12 from the field and 6 of 9 from the free throw stripe in the game.

Khylea, a 2013 Columbiana High School graduate, had 1,167 points during her career. They are the first pair of Columbiana High School sisters to accomplish the feat of 1,000 points in a career.

The game also saw senior standout Kayla Muslovski return to the lineup after missing Saturday’s game against Western Reserve. Muslovski picked up where she left off with 19 points, four assists and three steals.

Grace Hammond aided the Clippers (5-3, 5-0 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference) with 11 points, five assists and four rebounds.

Columbiana will be at United on Thursday. The Clippers own a one-game lead over the Eagles in the league.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Lisbon 82, Heartland Christian 70

LISBON–Justin Sweeney exploded for 29 points, eight rebounds and five assists as Lisbon downed Heartland Christian 82-70 in boys basketball action Monday.

Ryan McCullough added 18 points for Lisbon, which improves to 3-4. Logan Bell had seven rebounds and five steals.

For Heartland (1-4) Cade Roth tallied 19 points. Stephen Baker added 17 points.

Lisbon won the jv game 43-26. Blayne Brownfield had 14 points for Lisbon. Nate Garzanich had eight points for Heartland.

Lisbon is at Leetonia today.
