Tigers open EOAC circuit on top

WELLSVILLE–Wellsville is on a winning streak.

The Tigers limited Lisbon to 132 yards of total offense in a 16-14 win over the Devils in an Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference opener on Friday night.

Derrick Suggs anchored the attack for the Tigers, who were coming off a 1-point win over Malvern last week, with 176 yard rushing. He also had three catches for 54 yards and a touchdown.

Derrick Suggs put the Tigers up 7-0 when he hauled in a 28-yard pass from Troy Carter in the first quarter.

Lisbon rallied to tie it on a Logan Bell to Joey Fisher 20-yard touchdown pass.

Wellsville (2-2, 1-0) took the lead with a saftey at the end of the first quarter.

Lisbon (2-2, 0-1) went up with a Bell 1-yard run in the third quarter before Darien Suggs caught a 25-yard pass from Troy Carter to edge the Tigers into the lead.

Wellsville dominated time of possession by having the ball for just over 27 minutes in the contest.

Carter completed seven of 15 passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions.

Bell carried the load for the Devils with 63 yards on the ground.

Darien Suggs and Jason Tice sparked the Tiger defense with interceptions.

Wellsville is at East Palestine next Friday, while Lisbon hosts Southern.
