Tigers clinch share of EOAC title

HANOVERTON–The Wellsville volleyball team wrapped up at least a share of the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference title with an easy 25-11, 25-14, 25-15 win over United Thursday.

The Tigers (15-1, 12-0) hold a two-game lead over Southern with two conference matches left. Wellsville is currently ranked 14th in Div. IV in the latest state coaches’ poll.

The Eagles fall to 7-11, 6-6.

Fpr Wellsville, Kiki Perry had 12 kills and four blocks, while Kinley Martin had 14 kills and two aces. Regan Pierson dished out 24 assists and added five kills. Jenna McNicol had 14 digs.

For United, Rachel Bowen had six aces, 11 kills and 10 points. Haley Dees added 14 assists.

Wellsville won the jv match 25-8, 25-18.

Emily McNicol had six assists, three aces and two kills for the Tigers. Gia Pucci had three aces and three kills.

Wellsville hosts Beaver Local Monday. United hosts Heartland Christian Monday.

East Liverpool 3,

Edison 0

RICHMOND–The East Liverpool volleyball team took home a 25-14, 25-8, 25-10 win over Edison Thursday.

The Potters, who are ranked 20th in Div. II, improve to 13-1 overall.

For the Potters, Skye Stokes had nine aces and eight kills, Emma Ludwig had six kills and five blocks. Terran Stacey finished with six aces, four blocks and three kills. Sharnae Wilson added seven blocks.

East Liverpool won the jv match 25-16, 25-19. Jessica Mackey had five aces and two kills for the Potters, while Karley Golden had three kills.

East Liverpool won the freshman match 25-7, 25-14. Jetta Fitch had six aces. Naudia Williams had five kills.

The Potters travel to Hoover on Saturday for a quad match with Hoover, Orrville and Louisville.

Southern 3,

East Palestine 2

EAST PALESTINE–The Southern volleyball team survived East Palestine 25-15, 18-25, 19-25, 25-21, 15-11 Thursday.

Fir the Indians, Maddie Paxson slammed home 20 kills, while Riley Felton racked up 17 kills and eight blocks. Kyleigh Ketchum had 15 assists, while Erin Boyle had 14 digs.

For the Bulldogs, Jade McBride had 12 points and 13 digs, Emily Berger had 12 kills and Mady Pickett had 31 assists.

East Palestine won the jv match 25-17, 25-11.

Sophia Beatty had five points for the Indians. Marisa Stewart had four points.

Southern hosts Lisbon Tuesday.

Lisbon 3, Leetonia 0

LISBON–The Lisbon volleyball team overpowered Leetonia 25-14, 25-17, 25-10 in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference action Thursday.

The Blue Devils improve to 12-5 overall and 9-3 in the EOAC.

For Lisbon, Chloe Smith led the way with 16 points, 17 digs and five kills. Maddie Liberati added 11 kills and nine points.

Lisbon won the jv match 25-7, 25-6. Trenidy Barnes had seven points for the Blue Devils.

Lisbon is at Southern Tuesday.

Columbiana 3, Toronto 0

TORONTO–The Columbiana volleyball team swept Toronto 25-20, 25-20, 25-19 in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference action Thursday.

The Clippers improve to 4-11 overall and 4-8 in the EOAC.

For the Clippers, Tori Long led the way with 23 digs, seven points and five kills. Maci Linhart added 18 digs, eight points and two aces. Madison Moser had 14 points, six kills and two aces.

Toronto won the jv match 25-22, 25-23.

Julia Rapp had five kills and three aces for the Clippers.

Columbiana hosts United Tuesday.
