FOOTBALLFORECAST

East Liverpool at Salem, 7 p.m.

Salem (2-0) enjoys a four-game winning streak in this series which stretches back generations. East Liverpool (1-1) will have to remain focused as meetings with close rivals Beaver Local and Oak Glen loom in the weeks following this game.

Campbell at East Palestine, 7 p.m.

East Palestine (0-2) needs a confidence boost after losses to Salem and Western Reserve to open the season. Campbell (0-2) might be the antidote, but the Bulldogs must come prepared. The Red Devils have given up 30 total points in two losses, but Columbus Bexley broke a 12-game losing skid against them last week.

Valley Christian at Lisbon, 7 p.m.

The Eagles (2-0) and Devils (2-0) are two of 10 unbeatens in Div. VII, Region 25. Last season, the Eagles finished 5-6 but stunned the Devils for the team’s first win in the third week of the season.

Wellsville at Malvern, 7 p.m.

The Tigers (0-2) have been outscored 71-13 so far but Malvern (1-1) did have its problems against Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference member Lisbon in the opener.

Southern at Steubenville Central, 7 p.m. Saturday

For the second week in-a-row the Indians (2-0) are playing on Saturday. Unfortunately the half of football Southern played last week was due to a power failure at River High School, but this one looks like it could be a key computer points bounty in Div. VI, Region 21 as the Crusaders are also 2-0 to begin the campaign.

Shenandoah at Beaver Local, 7 p.m.

The Div. VI Zeps come to Beaver Local with a 1-1 record after going 8-3 last season (that campaign included a 28-0 win over Southern Local). Beaver Local (1-1) is picking up the pieces after a 50-7 loss to West Branch.

Oak Glen at Buckeye Local, 7 p.m.

It has been 34 games since the Panthers (0-2) have tasted victory, but the team has stayed competitive against two quality opponents in this new campaign. Oak Glen (0-2) has not won in eight, but had two really tough tests to start the season.
