Kinsey books her spot in finals

NEW CONCORD–Beaver Local’s Teddi Kinsey qualified for the finals in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles at the Div. II regional track meet on Thursday at Muskingum University.

The top eight qualifiers in the prelimanaries will compete in the finals on Saturday.

Kinsey had the fifth best preliminary time in the 100 meter hurdles (16.16) and fifth best in the 300 hurdles (47.65).

The top four finishers in each event automatically qualify for the state track meet to be held June 1st and 2nd at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus.

In boys competition, East Liverpool’s 3200 relay team of Braidyn Wright, Levi George, Brannan Smith and Timmy Neal finished 12th with a time of 8:43.04. Beaver Local’s Zak Pappas finished 13th in the 100 meter dash at 11.43.

Minerva’s girls 3200 relay team of Mackenzie Scott, Nelle Yankovich, Ava Burman and Sarah Carver will make the trip to Columbus after finishing third with a time of 9:34.77.

The Lions’ 800 relay team of Amanda Kukunis, Julie White, Ava Burman and Alyssa Markins advanced to the finals with a sixth place finish at 1:48.43. Minerva’s 400 relay team of Idresia Leavell, Skylar Trussell, White and Markins finished fourth with a time of 51.48.

Minerva’s 1600 relay team of Burman, Carver, Trussel and Kuknis finished fourth with a time of 4:10.84.

Markins will compete in the final of the 100 after finishing seventh with a time of 12.78 in the prelims.

Kukunis finished sixth in the 400 preliminary with a time of 1:01.68 and will compete on Saturday.

Minerva’s Kyle Hudson finished 14th in the 110 meter hurdles preliminaries (16.11).

Minerva’s Garrison Markins took fifth in the long jump (21-3.75). Markins was 11th in the 100 as well (11.68).

Edison’s Karissa Speedy finished 13th in the 100 hurdles at 17.03.

Minerva’s Natlie Crum took 10th in the shot put (32-10.75) and Edison’s Faith Hoobler finshed 14th (31-5.25).

Minerva’s Shelby Wheeler recorded no height in high jump.
