Boyer runs at Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Malone College standouts George McCartney and Nate Boyer raced in the 10,000 meters at the Bucknell University Classic on Saturday.

McCartney was 26th (30:49.45) and Boyer was 28th (30:54.24) to climb to seventh and 10th, respectively, in Great Midwest Athletic Conference history. Boyer is a graduate of East Liverpool High School.

Two Mount Union school records also were established.

Senior Jaquill Scott bested his own school record in the javelin throw as he placed second with a toss of 214-feet-10s. That mark is third best in NCAA Division III so far this season and provisionally qualifies Scott to return to the NCAA Division III Championships.

Junior Hilary Reigle set a school record in the women’s 5,000 meters with a time of 17:18.14. It is currently the 21st-best time in NCAA Division III this season.

Patriots’ Day game postponed

BOSTON (AP) — The annual Patriots’ Day game scheduled for Monday morning at Fenway Park has been postponed because of the forecast of heavy rain.

The Red Sox made the announcement about an hour after their 3-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday, which completed an abbreviated three-game series sweep and gave Boston an 8-1 record on its first homestand of the season.

The game is scheduled for a May 17 makeup, which is a mutual off day for the teams before they start an already scheduled series at Fenway Park.

It’s the first postponement of the game — which has been scheduled annually since 1959 — for weather since 1984. The game was canceled due to a players’ strike in 1995.
