Tough night in the OVAC

TORONTO –Toronto opened up a 10-point first-quarter lead on the way to a 60-46 win over East Liverpool in OVAC consolation pool play Monday.

Emma Ludwig topped the Potters with 18 points. Alessandra Ferrazzano added 12.

East Liverpool will host Southern Local on Thursday.

Mineral Ridge 47

MINERAL RIDGE — Lisbon’s girls basketball team topped Mineral Ridge 54-47 on Monday night.

Izzy Perez paced the winners (12-7) with 18 points, while Maddie Liberati had 16 points.

Chloe Smith and Autumn Oehlstrom had eight rebounds each. Perez had 10 assists to go along with five boards and five steals.

The Rams won the jayvee game, 26-20. Brianna VanGiessen had eight points for the Devils.

Mineral Ridge hosts Heartland on Thursday. Lisbon is at McDonald on Thursday.

Martins Ferry 38, Southern 32

SALINEVILLE — Martins Ferry came away with a 38-32 win over Southern Local in an OVAC consolation pool game on Monday night.

Anna Sevek had 24 points, 11 rebounds and three steals for the Indians, 11-10. Stella Ruby Karcher added 11 rebounds.

Martins Ferry won the jayvee portion, 37-17. Delainey Mellott had seven points for the Indians.

Southern is at East Liverpool on Thursday for a varsity only game.
