Frantz makes PAC history
YOUNGSTOWN — Bethany College junior Leighanna Frantz became the first female high jumper to win back-to-back Presidents’ Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday.
Frantz, a 2015 graduate of East Liverpool High School, repeated by clearing 4-feet-8 3/4 at the Watson and Tressel Training Site. She also was 10th in the long jump (14-6 1/2).
Westminster sophomore Maura Belding from Crestview was second in the 1600 relay (4:13.45) and fourth in the 400 meters (62.28 seconds).
Washington & Jefferson junior Maggie Briceland from United was fourth in the 3,000 meters (10:43.87) — one of four runners to break Heidi Hoffman’s league record — and fourth in the 5,000 meters (19:39.87).
Grove City sophomore Madelyn Kimpel from South Range was fifth in the distance medley (13:59.52) and 12th in the mile (5:48.88).
Bethany senior Ashley Borsch from Edison was ninth in the 60 meters (8.48).
The Waynesburg women won their second straight indoor title with 127 points, followed by Westminster with 123 and Geneva with 113 1/2.
