Beavers, Indians both move to 2-0

RICHMOND– Beaver Local picked up its second win of the season with a 58-36 win over Edison on Thursday night in Buckeye 8 Athletic League action.

Beaver Local is 2-0 on the season and will host East Liverpool on Monday night.

Conotton Valley 28

SALINEVILLE — Southern Local’s girls basketball team is off to a flying start as the Indians struck down Conotton Valley 46-28 on Thursday.

Anna Sevek tallied 21 points, seven steals and three blocks for the 2-0 Indians.

Riley Felton added 21 rebounds, three assists, three steals and six blocks. Hayleigh Allen had 10 rebounds and four steals. Stella Karcher had nine points, 11 boards, five assists, two steals and five blocks.

Southern opens Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play on Monday by welcoming Leetonia.

Southern won the jayvee portion 27-14. Lindsay Ingledue had 10 points for the Indians.

WELLSVILLE — Maddie Warren had 11 points and Lowellville played strong defense to down Wellsville 47-32 on Thursday in girls basketball action.

Wellsville (0-2) was led by Menina Jackson’s 14 points and 10 rebounds. Hunter Weekley had six rebounds and four assists.

Wellsville hosts Heartland Christian on Saturday.

Wellsville won the jayvee portion, 30-21. A. Cline had seven points for the Tigers.
