Potters slip against Crusaders
EAST LIVERPOOL — It has been a week of close misses for the East Liverpool golf team.
East Liverpool lost three matches by a combined 11 strokes in the season-opening week — including a 187-191 decision to Steubenville Catholic Central at East Liverpool Country Club on Thursday.
Alex Tambellini topped the Potters with a 38. Josh Recktenwald added a 49, Cameron Beverly 50 and Brennan O’Hara 54.
East Liverpool (0-3) will play Edison and Steubenville at the Steubenville Country Club on Monday.
CALCUTTA — Jared Wilson fired a 32 to lead Columbiana to a 153-183 win over Southern on Thursday at Beaver Creek Meadows.
Also for the Clippers, Seth Ross had a 35, Nate Whitehead 42 and Sean Whitehead 44.
For the Indians (1-1), Nick May had a 40, Josh Boyle 43, Tanner Patterson 47 and Jared Garner 53.
Southern is at East Palestine on Monday.
EAST LIVERPOOL — Lisbon carded a 174-231 win over Wellsville on Thursday at Cedar Hills.
For Lisbon (2-2), Branson Brownfield had a 38, Sam Tinsley 41, Austin Craig 44 and Blayne Brownfield 51.
For Wellsville, Tres Click had a 51, Luke Green 56, Shawn Osborn 59 and Seth Kerner 65.
Third for Beavers
CORTLAND — The Beaver Local girls placed third out of 13 teams in the Lakeview Tournament at Tamer Win Golf & Country Club on Wednesday.
Canfield won with 337, Boardman was second with 348 and Beaver Local third with 368.
For the Beavers, Hayley Phillips shot a 88, Reed McGeehan 90, Carsyn Hoppel 94, McKenna Kyler 96, Bekah Kyler 100 and Brook Briggs 120.
Columbiana finished seventh with a 393. For the Clippers, Taylor Ross had a 94, Abbi Hawkins 99, Abby Rambo 100 and Morgan Highley 100.
Boardman’s Jenna Vivo was the medalist with a 70.
Beavers take second
PARIS — The Beaver Local girls golf team finished second out of 14 teams Tuesday in the Tri County League Tournament at Pleasant View Golf Club
Four Beavers were named to the all-tournament second team — Bekay Kyler and Carsyn Hoppel shot 91s, Hayley Phillips 92 and McKenna Kyler 94.
Reed McGeehan added a 96 and Brook Biggs 103.
Dover’s McKenzie Dale was the medalist with a 78.
Marlington took the team title with 350, followed by Beaver Local 368 and Carrollton 372.
