Stokes lifts Potters with late-inning triple
EAST LIVERPOOL — Skye Stokes’ two-run triple with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning lifted East Liverpool past Beaver Local, 5-4, Monday.
Stokes finished with three hits, including two triples. Cyna Burton added an RBI triple.
Maddie Brown earned the complete-game victory, striking out 16.
The Potters scored two runs in each the fifth and sixth innings to take a 5-3 lead.
Leah Pancake accounted for most of Beaver Local’s offense as she went 4-for-4 with a triple and an RBI.
East Liverpool improves to 3-2 on the season, while Beaver Local drops to 0-6.
East Liverpool will play at Oak Glen today.

SALEM — Clara Janofa did a little bit of everthing again during Salem’s 9-5 victory over Southern Local on Monday.
Salem improves to 3-5 this season.
Janofa picked up the victory, striking out eight in five innings. She also recorded a single, double and three RBIs. Hayden Carner, Bailee Thorn and Katie Moore had two hits apiece.
For the Indians, Erin Boyle led with two singles, two stolen bases and two runs. Lizzie Willis had two singles.
Salem travels to Alliance today.

WELLSVILLE — Marisa McDonough pitched Columbiana to another victory, this time 8-0 over Wellsville on Monday.
Columbiana improves to 8-0, 3-0 in the Inter-Tri County White Division.
The Clippers scored six runs in the top of the seventh inning after leading 2-0. McDonough struck out 14 in the complete game victory. Morgan Highley and Kennedy Fullum had a double and single each. Emily Gosselin tallied a triple. Taylor Ross and Aubrianna Mellott added two singles each.
For the Tigers, Hunter Weekley had two singles, while Sara Dalrymple hit one.
Both teams face one another again today at Columbiana.

For the Bears, Kristy Eckman led with a home run, double, single and two RBIs. Jay Lorch and McKenzie Meade had two hits apiece.
