Beaver Local bested by Salem

LISBON–The Salem baseball team landed a pair of one-run victories against Beaver Local Saturday.

In the first game, Salem prevailed in a 1-0 pitcher duel behind a complete-game from Adam Wilson–who struck out six and walked two.

Bryce Owen went 2-for-3 for the Quakers. Shawny Chappel scored the only run of the game in the fifth inning. Chris Yanni and Chase Wilcox each had two hits for the Beavers.

Salem edged Beaver Local 7-6 in the second game.

Logan Wilms, Jerod Carner and Braydon Gibson all had two hits for the Quakers. Ricky Enlow, Turner Johnson and Dillon Bickerton all had RBIs. Noah West had three hits and an RBI for the Beavers. Logan Bouscher doubled, singled and had an RBI.

Salem is now 5-11 overall, while the Beavers drop to 3-12.

Salem is at Canton South on Tuesday, while the Beavers are at Wellsville Tuesday.

EAST PALESTINE — Lisbon’s Colin Sweeney had three hits including a double with three RBIs as the Blue Devils smoked East Palestine 12-5 on Saturday at City Park.

Lisbon is 10-3 and is at Southern on Monday.

David Toot added two doubles, while Cameron Summers had a triple and an RBI.

Trevor Kimmel had two doubles for the Bulldogs, 7-8. Alex Guy had a single and triple.

East Palestine is at Wellsville on Monday.

NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. — A late rally in the bottom of the seventh inning wasn’t enough for the Oak Glen baseball team as it suffered a 6-5 loss to Brooke on Saturday.

Oak Glen entered the bottom of the seventh down 6-3 and managed to put a late scare into the Bruins.

Ty Logston and Josh Cline had a double each for the Golden Bears. Robert Bozek added a single and two RBIs. Noah Feicht had a single and RBI.

NEW MIDDLETOWN–Eight different players had base hits as Springfield beat Mineral Ridge 9-3 Saturday.

The Tigers improve to 6-7. The Rams drop to 2-10. Anthony Ugolini led the Tigers with three RBIs. Zach Renaldy and John Ritter each added two RBIs. Renaldy picked up the win.

Springfield is at South Range Monday.

Jake Crawford pitched a complete-game three-hitter as the Rebels improve to 8-6 overall.

Crestview scored both of its runs in the bottom of the fifth on a sac fly by Tyler Fitzsimmons and an RBI single by Caleb Hill. Dylan Ball and Dylan Huff each contributed to the inning with singles.

Crestview hosts United Monday.

Columbiana vs. Liberty

COLUMBIANA–The Columbiana baseball team secured a pair of victories against Liberty on Saturday.

The Clippers took game one 5-3, with Jake Clark hurling a complete game for the win. Clark also added a pair of RBIs to go with eight strikeouts. Mitch Davidson was 2-for-2 with a pair of triples and an RBI, while Chase Franken tripled and scored three runs and Keenan Geen singled and had two RBIs.

Columbiana blew out Liberty 17-2 in the second game.

Green, Clark and Tim Davin all had two RBIs for the Clippers. Franken and Zach Fahs each had two singles and three runs scored. A.J. Perkins picked up the win.

Columbiana is now 13-2 overall and hosts Leetonia Monday.
