Wellsville’s Shope, Miller receive special mention on Division VII All-Ohio team

COLUMBUS — A pair of Wellsville standouts — senior quarterback Justin Miller and senior defensive back Michael Shope — received special mention on the Division VII All-Ohio team.

Miller set single-season school records for yards passing (1,852), touchdown passes (20) and completions (112). He also ran for 210 yards and seven touchdowns.

Shope had 65 tackles and 12 pass deflections with three interceptions, returning one for a touchdown, and had two more touchdowns off fumble recoveries.

Senior running back Nate Martin was a constant threat for the Sebring football team.

Martin, Sebring’s all-time leading rusher and scorer, was named to the 2016 Associated Press All-Ohio third team announced Thursday.

This season he ran for a school-record 1,478  yards and 13 touchdowns on 177 carries (8.1). He also had eight catches for 283 yards (34.3) and scored 17 total touchdowns.

Martin rushed for more than 4,000 yards in his career along with more than 1,500 yards in kick returns and 1,000 yards receiving.
