WELLSBURG, W. Va. — Brooke shut down East Liverpool 64-42 on Thursday.

East Liverpool falls to 0-2 this season.

Skye Stokes led the Potters with 23 points. Kayla Newlin recorded six points, while Cyna Burton and Johnna Stokes added four apiece.

For Brooke, Gabby Melegal led with 11 points and Ashley Arca nine.

East Liverpool hosts Wellsville at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Brooke also won the jayvee game 60-33. Kenzie McKinnon led the Potters with 18 points.

COLUMBIANA — Crestview’s girls basketball team outlasted Southern Local 38-24 Thursday to move to 2-0 on the young season.

Alexis Gates had 16 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Rebels. Emma Smith added 16 points, five rebounds and two assists. Emily Ferris had four steals and two assists.

Anna Sevek tallied 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Indians, 0-2. Riley Felton led on the boards with 13 rebounds.

No jayvee game was played.

Crestview is at Sebring on Saturday for a varsity only game. Southern is at Jackson-Milton Saturday also for a varsity only game.

CALCUTTA–Beaver Local began its season in style with a 41-20 win over Edison Thursday.

Jenna Riccardo paced the Beavers with 14 points and eight rebounds. Madison Roberts had nine points, six rebounds and four steals. Kierra Tyalor added five assists.

Beaver Local won the jayvee game 24-8. Kaylee Gump led the way with six points. The Beavers are back in action Wednesday at home against Girard.

HANOVERTON — United put its game with Wellsville away in the third quarter during its 50-35 win on Thursday.

United improves to 1-2 this season.

The Golden Eagles, leading 22-18 at halftime, outscored the Tigers 17-5 in the third quarter.

Haleigh Anderson led United with 13 points. Cameron Pierson had 12, while Hannah Mix added 10.

For the Tigrs, Menina Jackson led with 15 points. Cameron Carlevale tallied eight (all from the foul line) and Sara Dalrymple seven.

United hosts Lowellville at 6 p.m. Monday. Wellsville heads to East Liverpool at 1 p.m. Saturday.

United also won the jayvee game 38-8. Kyleigh Daggy led the Golden Eagles with nine points.

LISBON — Karlee Pezzano had 16 points, eight rebounds, five assists and six steals as Lisbon took care of business in a 77-32 win over East Palestine on Thursday.

Lisbon led 42-5 at the half in the rout. The Blue Devils are 3-0.

Maddie Liberati added 11 points, while Izzy Perez chipped in 10 points, eight steals and five assists. Mackensie Mason had four blocks.

Marlaina Frye had 11 points for the 0-3 Bulldogs.

Lisbon won the jayvee game, 45-31. Liberati, Alyssa Chestnut and Abby Davis had 11 points each for the winners. Kenzee Johnson had seven points for the Bulldogs.

Lisbon is at Western Reserve on Monday.
