Hale leads team to 10-0 mark

POWELL — Beaver Local High School graduate Steve Hale recently completed a 10-0 regular season campaign as head coach of Olentangy Liberty’s football team near Columbus.

Hale, who has been coach of Patriots for the last 14 years, also picked up his 100th career win at Liberty in the final game of the regular season. The Patriots open the playoffs as the top seed in Division I, Region 2 and will host Olentangy Orange at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Hale has also coached at Shelby High School and went undefeated in the regular season in 1998 before losing to West Branch in the regional final.

Steve’s son, Jake, is a sophomore longsnapper on the Ohio University football team.

South Side to meet Washington

HOOKSTOWN,Pa. — South Side Beaver’s football season will continue with a WPIAL Class AA playoff game set for 7 p.m. on Friday night at Washington High School.

South Side finished 4-5 in the regular season and picked up the wild card in the WPIAL playoffs. The Rams are the 15th seed.

Washington, the second seed, is 9-0 and won the Century Conference.

LISBON — Tickets for Lisbon’s Division VI playoff football game will be sale at the high school from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. today through Friday.

Presale tickets  are $8. All tickets at the gate will be $9.

Lisbon will play at Louisville St. Thomas Aquinas at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
