Beaver’s Heaton named OVAC player of the year

Four Beaver Local volleyball players, two East Liverpool and Oak Glen girls and a Southern Local player were recently recognized by the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference.

Beaver Local’s Dakota Heaton was named the OVAC Class 5A Volleyball Player of the Year and an All-OVAC member. Heaton was a major factor during the Beavers’ 24-1 season. She recorded 239 kills, 107 digs, 15 blocks, a kill percentage of 50 and a serve percentage of 83.

Teammate Kaitlynn Pugliano will join Heaton in the All-Star match. Megan Buccheit and Reed McGeehan made the All-OVAC list as well.

In the OVAC Class 4A, East Liverpool’s Kiandria Cowart and Skye Stokes along with Oak Glen’s Hannah Rogers and Alexis Swan were named to the All-OVAC list. Southern Local’s Lizzie Willis made list in the OVAC Class 2A.

Jeff Beros from Buckeye Trail was named the OVAC Volleyball Coach of the Year for Ohio. Paden City’s Fred King is the OVAC Volleyball Coach of the Year for West Virginia.
