SOCCER: Busy day for Beavers, Golden Bears

Tyler Consolidated 5, Oak Glen 3

SISTERSVILLE, W.Va.-The Oak Glen boys soccer team fell to Tyler Consolidated 5-3 Saturday.

Addison Sayre had two goals and one assist for the Golden Bears (0-2), while Nathan Fryer added one goal.

Blake Carpenter had two goals for Tyler Consolidated.

Beaver Local 9, Indian Creek 0

CALCUTTA – The Beaver Local girls soccer team had little trouble with Indian Creek Saturday as the Beavers shut out the Redskins 9-0.

Alex Eisenhart led the Beavers (2-1) with three goals and one assist, followed by Stefani Watson with two goals, and a goal each from Kierra Taylor, Frances McPeek, Kylie Severs and Riona Hissom. Alexia Schwerha had three assists, while Sara Cole had one assist. Anna Jennings recorded three saves in the first half, while Courtney Elliott had three saves in the second half.

The Beavers host Oak Glen on Tuesday.

Beaver Local 11, Carrollton 1

CALCUTTA – Chase Hilliard’s seven goals lifted Beaver Local to a 11-1 win over Carrollton on Saturday.

Also scoring for the Beavers (2-1) was Drew Theiss with two goals and three assists, and a goal each from Jon Tomlinson and Phillip Campbell. Colin Brightwell had two assists, Marcus Watson had one assist, and Chase Wilcox had two saves.

Lane Kugler scored the Warriors’ only goal.

The Beavers host East Palestine on Monday.

Oak Glen 2, Tyler Consolidated 0

SISTERSVILLE, W.Va. – The Oak Glen girls soccer team opened its season strong Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Tyler Consolidated.

Emily Bodo led the Golden Bears (1-0) with a goal and an assist, followed by Kennedy Graves with a goal, and Christine Mangano with an assist. Erin Fields recorded eight saves.

The Golden Bears head to Beaver Local on Tuesday.

Edison 1, Ridgewood 0

RICHMOND – Chelsea Petzker’s goal on an assist from Bethanie Bube led Edison to a 1-0 win over Ridgewood in girls soccer action on Saturday.

Edison is 1-0.

Fairmont 12, Oak Glen 0

NEW MANCHESTER, W.Va. – Oak Glen’s boys soccer team fell to Fairmont Senior 12-0 on Friday.

Nathaniel Bennett had 22 saves in goal for the Golden Bears.
