GOLF: Beavers, Indians win

CALCUTTA – Three Beaver Local golfers shot in the 30s as the Beavers downed Edison, 157-195, Wednesday at Beaver Meadows.

Quintan Carr led the way with a 37, followed by Joey Newlin 38, Duncan Hildebrand 39 and Jeremy Morgan 44.

Mason Allese topped Edison with a 44.

Earlier in the week, the Beavers finished 14th out of 17 teams at the Canfield Invitational with a 383.

Newlin was fourth overall with an 18-hole score of 77 at Tippecanoe Country Club. Also for the Beavers, Carr had an 87, Hildebrand 105 and Morgan 114.

Beaver Local will play East Liverpool at 4 p.m. Monday at Beaver Meadows.

Southern wins Quad

CALCUTTA-The Southern Local golf team narrowly won a quad-match with McDonald, Wellsville and Sebring Wednesday at Beaver Meadows.

The Indians totaled 165 strokes, followed by the Blue Devils with 166, Wellsville with 186 and Sebring with 202.

Jordan Myers led the Indians with a 38, while Aron Sevek shot 39, Jaret Dowling 41 and Mitch Hartline 47.

For the Tigers, Nick Bayer had a 43, Noah Palmer 47, Jace Cartwright 47 and Jake Green 49.

McDonald’s Mikey Baker was the medalist with a 37.
