Chester Old Timers advance

CHESTER, W.Va. – Jub Whittaker struck out three and gave up four hits in five innings as the Chester old timers beat Jamestown (N.Y.) 15-0 Saturday to advance to the finals of the winners’ bracket.

Bill Satler led the offense with three hits, followed by Mark Swartzfiger, Mike Welkston, Kevin Merriman, Jay Crago and Ray Talbott with two hits each.

Chester faces Boardman tomorrow at Pemberton Park in Youngstown.

Leetonia Kids Day

LEETONIA – The Leetonia Sportsman’s Club will hold its 39th annual Kids Day starting at 9:30 a.m. and running throughout the day on Sept. 27 at the club’s grounds on East High Street. There will be shooting, archery and fishing events for kids ages 6 to 15. The free event will also feature a weiner roast, trophies and prizes.
