Tigers beat Indians

WELLSVILLE – The Wellsville softball team celebrated their senior night with two wins in a doubleheader against Southern Local Saturday.

In the first game, Wellsville won 8-7. For the Tigers, Mystic Beatty hit three singles, Sarah Dalrymple had a double and a single and Domenica Cartwright had a single.

For Southern, Calvin and Marshall had two singles each and Polen had a triple.

The second game was cut short by rain and only went three innings. Wellsville won 2-0 with Dalrymple, Toni Lombardozzi and Nicole Mercer each hitting a single.

Wellsville coach Joe Soldano said he was happy they could win for seniors Domenica Cartwright, Brittany Caldwell, Samantha Caldwell and Kallee Powell.

“Hopefully we can continue to win some more games in the tournament,” Saldano said.

Wellsville is 7-13 overall and 6-6 in the league and will play its first sectional today in Boardman against Youngstown Christian.
