Beavers’ Lyder, Potters’ Cunningham highlighted on Div. II All-Ohio team

COLUMBUS – East Liverpool senior Hayden Cunningham and Beaver Local senior Jared Lyder highlighted area boys basketball player mentions on the Associated Press Div. II All-Ohio Team released Monday.

Cunningham and Lyder were both honored in the Div. II special mention category. East Liverpool senior Hayden Cunningham averaged 18 points, 5.5 rebounds and three assists a game. He made 84 percent of his free throws and hit more than 50 percent of his three-point shots.

Beaver Local senior Jared Lyder averaged 22.3 points, 11.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists a game.

Minerva senior Jantsen Locke averaged 20.3 points and eight rebounds a game and was named an honorable mention for his efforts. He finished sixth on Minerva’s career scoring list with 1,127 points.

Alliance senior J.J. Kukura capped his senior season with a 27.8 scoring average and he was named a Div. II All-Ohio first teamer for his efforts.

Dru Joyce’s Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary’s Irish are headed to the state tournament this week and have two first team All-Ohioans to take along with them in sophomore V.J. King (17.0 ppg) and senior Jalen Hudson (17.5 ppg).

Steubenville Big Red senior Adam Sterling (16.3 ppg) was named to the second team.
