Oil companies run a profit margin of 8% which is low compared to the banking industry which runs near 20%. The real problem is with the Democractically controlled congress and environmental nut jobs that won't allow drilling or refining in this country.

If oil companies profits are inline with other industries, then why are companies like GM and so many others going under, yet oil companies are making record profits?

I retired from a local oil refinery and I watch current oil prices.......For Exxon to post profits as high as they did last year, is totally rediculus. Our company certainly never intentially gouged the consumer!

Looks inline to me considering that Oil and Gas are items that we rely upon on a daily basis.
