CALCUTTA - Thomas J. Cunningham, 61 of Calcutta, passed away at his home on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, following a courageous battle with cancer.
More than anything, Tom enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His passions in life were hunting, fishing, and drag racing. Anyone who knew him knew that he was always willing to lend a hand when the need arose.
Born in East Liverpool on April 24, 1953, he was a son of the late William L. and Isabella L. Luckino Cunningham.
For 35 years, Tom was a union electrician for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers No. 246.
He was a Christian by faith and regularly attended the Corner Stone Church in Toronto.
A veteran of the US Army during the Vietnam conflict, Tom attended Beaver Local Schools.
Tom will be deeply missed by his wife, Karen Cunningham, whom he married on Nov. 6, 1993; his son, David Cunningham and his wife Dana of Calcutta; and his two stepdaughters, Dawn Anderson and Kimberly Logan and her husband John of Toronto.
He leaves several siblings, William (Big Bill) Cunningham and wife Peggy of East Liverpool, Ronald Cunningham and wife Marcy of New Castle, Pa., William L. Cunningham and wife Cindy of Lisbon, Frank E. Cunningham and wife Rosella of Calcutta, George H. Cunningham and wife Crystal of Lisbon, Stanly O. Cunningham and wife Janice of Wellsville, John P. Cunningham and wife Beth of Calcutta, Iris Ann Tompkins and husband Frank of Salineville, Felicia Yuker of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., and Cathy Metz and husband Glenn of Hookstown.
Tom's grandchildren include Alex Anderson, Brandon Logan, Megan Anderson, Abbagail Channels, Alaina Logan, and Vincenzo Cunningham.
Pastor Raul Diaz of the church will celebrate Tom's life with a memorial service at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, at the Corner Stone Church, 423 Clark St., Toronto, Ohio.
