Wayne L. Shaw, 82
EAST LIVERPOOL - Lifelong city resident, Wayne L. Shaw, 82, passed away at the Kindred Hospital at Heritage Valley in Beaver, on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, following lingering health issues. His loving family was constantly at his side.
His parents were the late Lloyd and Lenora Reed Shaw, and he was born here, in East Liverpool, on May 3, 1932.
Wayne worked for 21 years at the Macintosh-Hemphill Steel mill in Midland, where he retired as a Mill Wright.
A proud veteran, he served as a Staff Sergeant with the U.S. Army in Korea during the conflict there.
Wayne held memberships with the East Liverpool Korean War Veterans and the Glenmoor American Legion.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Kenneth, Lloyd, Claire, Alvin, Allen and Ralph Shaw; his sisters, Arla Dietz and Ruth Roe; and his daughter-in-law, Robin Shaw.
Wayne married his wife, Carol Shaw, on April 12, 1954, and she survives at home.
He also leaves his children: Wayne L. Shaw Jr. of East Liverpool, Frank Alan Shaw of East Liverpool, Rhea Lyn Kotfis and her husband Lee of East Liverpool, William Scot Shaw and his wife Angela of North, Va., and Nora Diane Shreeve and her husband Tim of East Liverpool.
Other survivors include his grandchildren: Johnny (Randi) Shaw, Kasi Shaw and fiance Chad Grey, Ashley Shaw, Nicholas Shaw, Andrea (Wyatt) Duffield, Emily Kotfis, and Timothy and Natalie Shreeve; two great-grandchildren: McKenna Lane Grey and Sophia Grace Duffield; two sisters, Nedra McKarns (Earl) of Kensington, Ohio, and Ruby Wade of Hiram, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Ellen Shaw of East Liverpool; his special niece, Carolyn (Gus) Blatch; two special nephews, Aaron and Ethan Blatch; and last but not least, his faithful canine companion, Sam.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester, and a brief service will take place there on Friday, at 8 p.m.
