EAST LIVERPOOL - Two days of music, art, activities and vendors await visitors at the East Liverpool's Got Talent Music & Arts Appreciation Festival 2014 set for Aug. 16-17 at Thompson Park.
In what promoters hope will become an annual event, area musicians will perform at the amphitheater beginning at 11:30 a.m. that Saturday and at 1 p.m. on that Sunday, bringing a wide variety of musical venues to the picturesque park.
Vendors will be set up by 9 a.m. on Saturday, with a cost of $25 per vendor registration for both days, with registrations to close Aug. 4. Those vendors still wanting to register can do so at www.eastliverpoolsgottalent.com.
More than 40 food concession and vendors are already lined up, and among the wares to be sold are jewelry, candles, cosmetics, Tupperware, herbal products and more.
Children won't be left out of the festivities, with art projects to be provided by the Henry Mancini Arts Academy, balloon animals created and donated by Carol Moore and a bounce house donated by Extreme Bounce.
The festival will close with a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. provided by F&V Fireworks.
Event coordinators are Amy Hissom-Daugherty, Jeff Daugherty, Keith Williams and Pennie Murray Zehnder, who have been helped with a host of volunteers and donations from the community to make this first event a success.
The stage banner has been provided by William's Graphic Design, with concert t-shirts also available at the concert and at a discounted price online before the concert.
The coordinators emphasized that security will be in place and a first aid station will be set up with Tri-County Ambulance in place, with 48 volunteers signed up to assist. Parking areas have been designated for handicapped guests in the top, inside parking lot, while other guests will be parking in the football/soccer field next to pavilion No. 4. Parkway Avenue is to be kept free of parking.
Alcohol is not permitted in the park.
Coordinators said the success of this year's event will determine whether it continues next year, saying, "We encourage everyone to get involved. This event is not about one person or one group. It is about all of us, and it is for all of us. Our vision is to bring our community back to life with things worth looking forward to."
Money raised this year from vendor fees and raffles will be used to obtain a 501c3 non-profit status for East Liverpool's Got Talent, which coordinators said will enable them to do more for the community in the future.
