EAST LIVERPOOL-Michael R. Irwin, 67, of East Liverpool, passed away, Wednesday evening at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh from complications of COPD.
Born Jan. 27, 1947 in East Liverpool, Ohio, he was a son of the late Bill and Ruth (Coleman) Irwin.
Mike spent his entire life in East Liverpool. He retired in 2002 after 35 years as a Laborer with Local Union 833 in New Brighton, Pa.
He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler Fan; Mike enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved his Little Red Truck and going into town and talking with his friends. Mike was a member of the Grace Baptist Temple and was a Christian by faith.
Mike was preceded in death, along with his parents, by several aunts, uncles; and a nephew, David Coleman.
Mike is survived by the mother of his children, Jean (Fitch) Irwin, whom he married Oct. 29, 1966 and with whom he resided. his son, Brian Michael (Stephanie) Irwin of East Liverpool and a daughter, Tawnya Irwin and her fiance, Wade Lovett of East Liverpool; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Keith Irwin of East Liverpool; along with several nieces and nephews; and by his canine companion, Button.
Visitation will be held at the Nixon Funeral Home in Newell, W.Va., Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, from 5-7 p.m. with a funeral service at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Nixon Funeral Home, to assist with funeral expenses.
