LISBON - Gary Phillip Barney, 58, of Lisbon, Ohio, died Sunday, July 27, 2014, at Allegheny General Hospital, in Pittsburgh, following a lengthy illness.
Born Dec. 11, 1955, in East Liverpool, he was the son of Anthony and Deloris Barney of Lisbon. A graduate of East Liverpool High School, Gary was employed as a caster at Homer Laughlin China, and a member of St. Blaise Roman Catholic Church in Midland. He was also active in the Midland Knights of Columbus, Council 2005. An avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Gary enjoyed playing cards and loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Pete and Albina (Donatella) Barney, and his maternal grandparents, Virgie Havens Yacynyk and Claude Havens.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sons, Christopher Barney of East Liverpool, and Paul Barney of Wellsville; and two sisters, Susan Packard of Hopewell, Pa. and Cynthia Barney of East Liverpool.
Friends will be received 4-8 p.m. Wednesday in the Schwerha-Noll Funeral Home, 600 Beaver Ave., Midland, where a service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday by Fr. Michael Yaksick of St. Blaise Church.
