I am writing as a student to inform the readers about nurse practitioners
The public community needs to know the ways in which a nurse practitioner can meet their medical needs. Nurse practitioners offer excellent and cost effective preventative and diagnostic care. In the state of Ohio, nurse practitioners have to have a collaborating physician to practice. This simply means that they have a physician at hand who can answer questions that may arise when caring for patients that would generally be beyond their expertise. When physicians and nurse practitioners work together to take care of the patient, the two complement one other and the patient receives the best all around care possible.
According to a recent survey by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, patients rate their satisfaction with nurse practitioners as high as 9.8 out of 10. Furthermore, when it comes to careful listening skills, 80 percent of patients state that nurse practitioners "always" exhibit this critical skill. Seeing a nurse practitioner for routine physicals, well child checks, yearly exams, etc. is more cost effective and can better serve the population.
So next time you go to your physician's office for a check up, consider seeing the nurse practitioner. You will be very happy with your experience.
