The 4th annual Freedom Run 5K was held July 4 in Chester. This year's race proved to be our largest to date. The Freedom Run 5K could not go on each year without the generous contributions of our donors and volunteers.
We would like to sincerely thank the following local businesses and organizations for their donations to this year's race: Team Mojo Foundation, Summit Physical Therapy, Bruno's Pizza, Chaney's Service Station, Eckleberry Insurance Agency, Hooper's Rock Springs Parts and Services, Connie's Corner, Kim's Heritage Salon, Janette's Barber Shop, Frank's Pastry, Arner Funeral Chapel, Alcatraz Body Modifications, Hot Shots Bar and Grill, Prestige Pawn, Salon da Vinci, Nila Jo's Natural Nutrition, Sal Mari's Sub Shop, Sparkle Market, Giant Eagle, Northbrooke Church, and Lighthouse Baptist Church.
Many of these donors have contributed to our race every year since its inception. We are so deeply appreciative of their continued support and would like to encourage all readers to please support these very deserving local businesses/organizations.
We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to Chester VFD, Chester Police Department, Hancock County Sheriff Reserves, and all the individual volunteers who assisted in rerouting and directing traffic during the race.
Additional thanks also go out to Oak Glen High School junior Savanah Bailey for providing a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem; to Emery's Laser Engraving for the awards for our winners; and to Ken Morris for his guidance with traffic control and for creating this year's t-shirts.
Finally, we would like to express our gratitude to all those who took the time to participate in this year's 5K. It is thanks to all of you that our race continues to be a success. We hope to see you all next July 4th!
