IRONDALE - Ethel "Dolly" Nelson, 81 of Irondale, passed away at her home on Sunday, July 13, 2014.
A daughter to the late Earl and Bernice (Wiles) Tice, she was born in Irondale on Dec. 24, 1932. Living her entire life in this area, Mrs. Nelson was very involved in her community and for many years served on the Irondale Council, the Water Board and the Beautification Committee. She was also a member of Irondale Methodist Church.
Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her Husband, Carl E. Nelson, on May 19, 2013. They married on May 1, 1949.
She is survived by two daughters: Myra Striker and her husband Charles of Richmond, and Tina Schoolcraft and her husband David of Irondale; a stepson: Paul M. Nelson and his wife Cindy of Chester; one brother: Larry Tice and his wife Betty of Irondale; grandchildren: Veronica (Scott) Talkington, Doug (Christine) Striker, Paula Jackson and her companion Rob Harris, Tonya (Andy) Wilson and Natosha Athey; great-grandchildren: James Talkinton, Michael Goski, Daniel Dwyer, Kayla Striker, Tori Bowling, Matthew Bowling, Cedric Athey, Chiara Schoolcraft and Cecil Schoolcraft; and three great-great-grandchildren: Lillian Talkington, Jacob Goski and Maddoxx LaClair.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, James R. Tice; and a sister, Betty Reapp.
Services will be held at the Wellsville Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Thursday, July 17, 2014, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dan Crowe of Irondale United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Hammondsville Cemetery.
Family will be present to receive friends at the Wellsville Chapel on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
