COLUMBUS, Ohio - Pastor Linda S. Cormany, of East Palestine, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014 at the Crown Point Care Center in Columbus following a lengthy illness. She was 63.
Born in Oakland, California, March 5, 1951, she was a daughter of the late Walter Robert and Rachel Vivian Glover Nelson. She had worked in financing for J.D. Byrider but later found her passion for ministry where she had most recently been the chaplain at the East Liverpool City Hospital.
She was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army where she served as a Captain. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in East Palestine.

She is survived by her two daughters, Rachel Yensel, of Columbus, and Ruth Welsh, of Southeast Asia, as well as a son, Jonathan Cormany, of Columbus. There are five grandchildren.
She also leaves behind four sisters, Wanda Laubscher of Florida, Alice Nelson of Florida, Joyce Schmidt of Missouri, and Jo Anne Nelson of California.
Rev. Richard Ferris of the church will conduct a funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service Tuesday.
Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship and continued remembrance.
Burial will be at Monroe Township Cemetery in Continental, Ohio.
