Police came across a stopped vehicle located partially in the intersection of Main and 17th Streets at 1:40 a.m. June 9, with a female unconscious in the driver's seat and an unconscious male in the passenger seat. The officer noticed a bundle of suspected heroin sitting in the lap of the male, identified as Tyler Mercer. Mercer attempted to hide the bundle, but it was recovered by police. During a vehicle search, officers found another bundle, a cut straw and a nameless prescription bottle under the passenger seat, as well as another five bundles in the driver's door, another cut straw on the driver's seat and an unlabeled prescription bottle in the trunk. Mercer was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, with further charges pending lab test results, and the vehicle was impounded.
