LISBON - Richard Grier, 79, of Lisbon, formally from East Liverpool, passed away June 9, 2014, at the Alliance General Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Nov. 8, 1934, in East Liverpool, son of the late Lawrence and Genevieve Grier. He lived the last three months with his son, Tom.
Surviving are his four sons: Richard of Alliance; Thomas (Roseanne) of Alliance; Danny (Melinda) of Oklahoma; and Billy (Carol) of Texas; along with four grandchildren: Ricky, Katie, Brandon and Ashley; and one great-granddaughter: Atoli.
He has three brothers: William, deceased; Edward (Betty) of Lisbon; Robert (Faye) of California; and two sisters: Virginia (William) Wright of Salem and Ruby Fetty of East Liverpool.
He served his country as a paratrooper. He was a member of American Legion on Parkway, VFW in East Liverpool and the Eagles in Wellsville.
Following many years of service, he retired as manager from LaBelle News Agency in Steubenville.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, at the Spring Hill Cemetery in Wellsville. He will be laid to rest with his mother and father.
Paquelet Funeral Home, Massillon, Ohio, was in charge of the arrangements.
