EAST LIVERPOOL - Betty Jane Barnhart, 95, of Parkway, passed away Friday, June 13, 2014, at her home following a brief illness.
Born in East Liverpool, July 9, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Dr. Kyle D. and Louise Llewellyn Dotson. A lifetime area resident, she worked at the East Liverpool City Hospital in their Medical Records Department. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in East Liverpool all her life where she was active in the United Methodist Women.
A graduate of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1936, she was a member of the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association. She also held membership in the East Liverpool Assembly No. 71 Social Order of the Beauceant as well as the Order of the Eastern Star and volunteered for the East Liverpool City Hospital Auxiliary.
Her husband, Richard C. Barnhart, preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 2005. The couple married Sept. 16, 1939. She was also preceded in death by a son, Richard D. Barnhart; a sister, Mary Louise Rodrick; and two brothers, James Dotson and David Kyle Dotson.
Survivors include a son, William C. Barnhart, and his wife Deneane, of Alta Loma, Calif.; five grandchildren, John, David, Joseph, Brian and Evan Barnhart; and seven great-grandchildren, Brooke, Logan, Madison, Brittany, Kendra, Mason, and Lennon.
Friends may visit Sunday at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 4-8 p.m. The East Liverpool Social Order of the Beauceants will conduct a service Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. Dale Sutton of the Church will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.
Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
