Baker Towing hauls away a GMC 2500 following a one-vehicle accident in West Point Saturday. According to the Lisbon Post of the State Highway Patrol, Rodney Sowards, 61, Roller Coaster Road, Lisbon, was traveling east on Roller Coaster Road around 3:30 p.m. when he went off the right side of the road through a field and crashed into a tree. West Point fire crews took off the driver’s side door to remove him from the vehicle. According to Trooper Brian Kavanaugh, who is handling the investigation, Sowards was not wearing a seatbelt, and alcohol is suspected in the crash. Sowards was flown to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown with serious injuries. His condition is unknown at this time. North Star Critical Care also assisted at the scene.
