NAVARRE - Wellsville's only regional qualifier is still alive.
Senior Shartece Taylor, the state runner-up last year, got through the 100-meter dash semifinals on a stormy Wednesday at the Navarre Division III regional track meet.
Taylor was third in her heat and seventh overall in 12.90 seconds at Barry Askren Memorial Track. She was the district champion last season.
The top two in each heat plus the next four fastest times advance to Friday's regional finals.
Canton Central Catholic senior Katie Mokros posted the top times in the 100 dash (12.44) and 200 dash (26.12). She is the defending state champion in both events.
McDonald senior Frankie Humphries earned the eighth and final spot in Friday's 100 dash finals in 12.99 seconds.
The remaining field events will start at 5 p.m. Friday, followed by the running finals at 6 p.m.
The top four in each event Friday advance to the state track meet in Columbus on June 6-7.
