The Review
David Edgell had his badge as a new East Liverpool assistant fire chief pinned on by his wife, Jennifer, after he was sworn into the position by East Liverpool Municipal Court Judge Melissa Byers Emmerling. Edgell is replacing Tim Walker, who retired as of midnight Saturday. A 1985 East Liverpool High School graduate, Edgell joined the city fire department in April 1990 after graduating the Stark Tech fire academy, the first firefighter hired under Chief Ed Croxall, now retired. Croxall’s son, Eric, is also an assistant chief in the department. Edgell successfully passed a competitive Civil Service exam last year to earn the promotion. Joining Edgell and his wife at the swearing in ceremony were their children Audrey and Luke, as well as a host of fire department colleagues and other city employees and officials.
