Neighbors of an 18th Street residence called police at 11:22 p.m. May 17 for a fight. Officers arrived and found Elizabeth Ward, of the above address, walking away from the home, visibly upset with scratches on her neck and a large lump on her forehead. Elizabeth admitted she and her husband, Ivan Ward, had been arguing, but claimed her injuries were due to falling down. Police then met with Ivan, who loudly addressed officers in an abusive and threatening manner, insisting that what happened was between he and his wife. When Ivan refused to calm down, he was arrested for persistent disorderly conduct, and began shouting obscenities at Elizabeth from the cruiser. At the station, police determined there was sufficient evidence to also charge Ivan Ward with domestic violence.
